Welcome aboard!

January 2023 – Crew are busy getting stock and projects ready and making Craftybird look lovely for visitors when the weather and the towpath is more inviting!

Currently in the Midlands… If you want to know precise location and are interested in visiting us even to just have a look and see what we are up to (no purchase necessary!) please send Sally an email. Otherwise, do follow us on Facebook or Instagram @4craftybird … we will be open at weekends when the weather gets better but very happy to open up shop for small groups or individuals on an ad hoc basis by request!

Craftybird is a unique floating pop up workshop (specialising in leatherwork) ready to welcome you on board to have a go at making something for yourself or as a gift for someone special. You can customise and colour your project and learn a little about how to work with leather. There is also a shop on board with a number of ready made leatherwork pieces.

At the moment, no booking needed. Just turn up and play!

Projects and Pricing

Because everyone is different, and the outcome of each project will depend on how much time you want to spend, our prices are based on time spent rather than specific cost per item. We have estimated the time it will take to make each of the projects below – time in the workshop is approximately £20 per hour and the cost includes basic materials.

Some of the projects we currently offer for you to make on board in the workshop include:

Brooch (30 minute)
Hair slide (30 minute)
Dog collar (1 to 2 hours)
Simple lead (see 1 to 1 hours)
Make a leather plant pot holder (1 hour)
Candle holder (30 minutes)
Belt (2 hours)
Windlass holder (30 minutes to 1 hour)
Shaped flower collar adornment (1 hour)
Necklace (30 minutes)
Horse brow band (1 to 2 hours)

The list is flexible and we are always happy to have a go at helping you to create your own design! Projects can be adapted to suit all ages.

And … if you have something you would like to fix – bring it along! Free estimates.

We are also working with partners to bring workshops in other mediums… so follow us for updates! Find Craftybird and other Roving Canal Traders on the CRT website!
